The death of a covered dependent is considered a qualifying life event. If your spouse, child, or other covered dependent passes away, you should notify Teachers Health Trust as soon as possible.
To request the removal, log in to the THT Member Portal and submit the Death of a Dependent life event. You must upload a copy of the dependent's death certificate as supporting documentation.
Requests should be submitted within 60 days of the dependent's date of death. If the request is received within the 60-day window and approved, the dependent will be removed from coverage effective the date of death. If the request is submitted more than 60 days after the dependent's date of death, THT will still process the request. However, the dependent's coverage will terminate effectively the first day of the month in which THT receives the completed request and required documentation, and no premium refunds will be issued.
Once the life event has been reviewed and approved, THT will send you an approval letter confirming the change.
